SilverFox Magic Box v2.0
USB to RC Converter

A portable USB-to-RC bridge. Connect joystick, throttle, pedals and switch panels — up to 4 devices. Output PPM, SBUS, IBUS or CRSF to your radio module or flight controller. Full Web UI from your phone.

4 USB Inputs 16 Channels SBUS / CRSF Phone-configurable

What Magic Box Does

Magic Box is a portable USB-to-RC bridge that lets you fly real RC planes, VTOLs and multirotors with professional HOTAS controllers — joystick, throttle, pedals, switch panels. It takes USB HID signals from up to 4 devices, converts them to PPM, SBUS, IBUS or CRSF, and sends them to your radio module or flight controller via trainer port or direct connection.

Version 2.0 ships with a full Web UI — a Svelte 5 app that runs on your phone over WiFi. Live channel bars at 20Hz, an interactive device sniffer with tap-to-assign, profile editor, channel transforms (expo, trim, subtrim, limits). Everything a transmitter does — in a box you power from a LiPo and configure without a laptop.

Built on a custom PCB with Raspberry Pi, LCD display and a 4-button interface. Powered by 3-6S LiPo (XT60 connector), with battery voltage monitoring and a low-voltage buzzer. WiFi access point (MagicBox-XXXX) for phone configuration, PIN-protected with idle detection.

From Unboxing to First Flight in 3 Steps

1

Plug in your HOTAS

Connect your joystick, throttle, pedals — up to 4 USB devices. Magic Box recognizes standard USB HID controllers. Power via 3-6S LiPo battery.

2

Configure from your phone

Connect to MagicBox WiFi, open the Web UI. The sniffer detects your axes and buttons — tap to assign them to RC channels. Set expo, trim, limits. Save as a profile. About 5 minutes.

3

Connect to your radio and fly

Plug the trainer cable into your radio (or connect an ELRS module for CRSF). Arm your model. You’re flying with a full-size stick instead of thumb gimbals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Magic Box works with most USB HID controllers — Thrustmaster (Warthog, TFRP, T.16000M), Logitech (X52, X56), VKB (Gladiator NXT), Virpil (all sticks and throttles), WinWing (Orion), CH Products, Saitek and custom panels with BU0836X / Leo Bodnar boards. If your OS sees it as a joystick, Magic Box probably will too.
PPM is an analog protocol from the 1980s — it works, but it’s limited in resolution and channel count. SBUS and CRSF are digital protocols with higher precision, lower latency and better error detection. Most modern flight controllers (iNav, Betaflight) and ELRS receivers expect digital input. Magic Box outputs all of them — you choose.
For PPM and SBUS output — yes, you connect Magic Box to your radio’s trainer port and the radio transmits to the receiver. For CRSF — you can connect an ELRS module directly to Magic Box, bypassing the radio entirely.
Connect your phone to the MagicBox WiFi network, open the Web UI in your browser. The interactive sniffer shows your HOTAS axes and buttons in real time — tap an axis, assign it to a channel. Set expo curves, trim, limits. Save as a profile. No YAML, no laptop, no CLI.
No. You can do basic operations from the LCD and 4-button interface on the device — switch profiles, check channel values, view system info. But the Web UI is where the power is: channel transforms, sniffer, device editor, profile management.
Four USB devices simultaneously. Typical setup: joystick (roll/pitch) + throttle + rudder pedals + custom switch panel = 4. Each device’s axes and buttons can be mapped to any of the 16 channels independently.
Yes. Channel transforms in the Web UI: weight (mixing ratio), expo (curve), reversed, trim, subtrim, limits (min/max endpoints). The same features you’d find in a high-end radio transmitter — configured from your phone.
Magic Box has a PPM input (3.5mm jack) for head trackers. The built-in channel mixer blends head tracker axes with your HOTAS controls — your head moves the camera gimbal, your hands fly the plane. Works with any PPM-output head tracker or via radio link.
RCHub is a solid PPM-only converter with 8 USB inputs and open-source firmware. Magic Box adds digital output (SBUS / IBUS / CRSF), Web UI configuration from your phone, and channel transforms (expo, trim, limits). If you only need PPM — RCHub is a good choice. If you want digital protocols and phone config — that’s Magic Box territory.
Magic Box is the only USB-to-RC converter with digital output AND Web UI configuration. The alternatives are: RCHub (PPM-only, no Web UI, no transforms), DIY (~$30 + significant time, single device, no GUI), or nothing. If you fly FPV with HOTAS and want digital output, phone config and channel transforms — yes. If you only need basic PPM — get RCHub.
